What Should I Wear?

Country Club Casual

The only rule is NO DENIM! (Seriously, it is in their contract!)

Men

Wear what you are wearing on the course or you can shower/change into a pullover and slacks...a sport coat or suit is too dressy.

Ladies

A cute dress or the Fall equivalent of white jeans and a cute top is perfect. You can wear a little black dress but that's probably too dressy.

Beat MCL

(Send it the way of the Shimo!)

As if 2020 wasn't bad enough, our friend Jock was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL). He's been lucky enough to get into a clinical trial at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston with the leading research oncologist, Dr. Michael Wang who's pioneered MCL research and has brought new treatments to market over the past decade.

MCL is a rare and aggressive B-cell subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that, according to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society®, accounts for 6% of non-Hodgkin cases. Despite high response rates to initial combination-drug chemotherapy, which is highly toxic, patients often relapse. Dr. Wang is bringing new, innovative, and safer treatments to market. He is looking beyond chemotherapies, and using chemo-free targeted therapies and immunotherapy. The future is genomic medicine that targets treatments specific to each patient.

None of this is free and here is where we come in...if we raise at least $50k, as part of LLS' Hero or Impact Awards, we can link Jock's name to the Precision Medicine and Immunotherapy research portfolios which currently have three MCL studies underway.  We can have a DIRECT impact on finding a cure for Jock's type of Lymphoma! If you'd like to learn more about the studies you can click here, here, and here.

...the good news for us is that there is a lot of research being put into MCL now and they feel like a cure is on the horizon. So when it comes back, the next phase could be a complete cure.

FAQ.

What happens if it rains?

In the event of inclement weather or inclement weather, play will continue unless the golf course is deemed unplayable and closed by TPC management. Wind is not considered a condition of inclement weather. In the event of lightning, play may be suspended until such a time as the threat of lightning has passed. If play is unable to resume due to the continued threat of lightning or closing of the golf course, TPC management will meet with the event coordinators to reach a mutually agreeable conclusion to the outing (with the goal to get you on the course to play Sugarloaf.) If play has progressed through at least 7 holes, the round will be considered a completed 9-hole round. If play has progressed through at least 14 holes, the round will be considered a completed 18-hole round and no further play will be required. All donations are final and will benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. No refunds.

That being said, if all of the above happens, the PARTY IS STILL ON!!! At that point, we've paid for the food and drink and we'll still celebrate and have the silent auction.

Are rental clubs available?

Yes, Sugarloaf has 10-15 rental sets available including right hand, left hand, and ladies clubs. Reservations are recommended so let me know!! The rental fee is $70 plus tax ($74.20 total.) 1 six-pack of golf balls is included with each rental set and the player will be responsible for all charges and any missing and/or damage to the clubs.

Is there a dress code?

Of course there is! This is Sugarloaf...and it applies to guests, volunteers, and vendors. Collared shirt, slacks, or Bermuda-length shorts. Denim of any kind, t-shirts, tennis attire, athletic attire is not appropriate so look nice :)
